Prayer Focus-Seeking God’s Strength

JOHN SHIRK – In the Year of Focus, we take a look at the value of seeking God for help and strength.

In First Chronicles 16:11, David said, “Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always.”

David had intense seasons of struggle. Sometimes his life was in danger, but in those moments, he pressed into God and relied on His strength. In the process of these difficult seasons, God was building David’s faith and character.

Phillips Brooks once said, “Do not pray for easy lives. Pray to be stronger men. Do not pray for tasks equal to your powers. Pray for powers equal to your tasks.” This is the type of prayer that trains us to depend on God for the support that we need in each season of life.

The value of seeking God for help and strength is worth examining for a faith-focused life.
