Super Game Night

January 23rd, 2024 No comments

It’s that time of year again. We transform our multipurpose room into two areas. One end is transformed into a “living room” where people can watch the “Big Game.” The other end is converted into a “dining room” where other people can hang out and play games. Join us on Sunday, February 11, 2024 beginning at 6:00 pm.

Bring your favorite tailgate food to share.

Door prize drawings will happen until halftime.

We will be participating in the Word of Life Alternative Halftime Show during halftime. Be sure to bring your cell phones with you so you can enter for the giveaways at the beginning of the halftime show. They will announce the winners at the end of the program.

We will be collecting hygiene products for Upper Adams Food Pantry. Please consider donating laundry detergent, shampoo, soap, deodorant, shaving cream & razors for men and women, Q-tips, cotton balls, feminine hygiene products, toothpaste and toothbrushes, etc.

Fall Fest will also feature live entertainment by Ryan and Friends and a few special tents dispersed throughout the event where free haircuts will be given, prizes will be awarded, and prayer by our prayer teams will be offered. There will be lots of food including hot chocolate, whoopie pies, popcorn, and french fries. You will also be able to roast hot dogs and make s’mores over the campfires. Q and A-The Olympics and Bema Seat Connection

August 10th, 2016 No comments

JOHN SHIRK – Today’s Q and A Segment explores the question, “What is the connection between the judgment seat of Christ and the Olympics?”

Second Corinthians 5:10 says that we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him, for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.” Romans 14:12 says that each of us will give an account of ourselves to God.

This judgment seat of Christ is sometimes described as the Bema Seat. In Greek culture, the Bema seat was the place where the judges gave out awards after athletic competitions. This might be compared to the Olympic ceremonies where various medals are awarded to athletes.

A day is coming when believers in Christ will appear at the judgment seat of Christ to have our lives evaluated for the deeds we have done in the body. This is not a judgment to evaluate salvation. That is settled through faith in Jesus. The judgment seat of Christ will determine rewards, based on various types of faithful service.

The judgment seat of Christ is a future reality that motivates us to run for the prize of God’s lasting crown in the Year of Exploration.
