Running with Wolves Virtual Race

June 1st, 2021 No comments

The Pennsylvania Dutch Council and Wolf Sanctuary of PA are holding the 2021 Running with Wolves Virtual 5K Race and 15K Bike Race.

A virtual race can be started from any location you choose so long as you are following the social distancing guidelines during June 1-15. For the 5K you can run/walk on the road, trail, treadmill, or on a track. The 15K Bike race can be done on the road, trail, or a stationary bike.

The race is $15 per registration and each paid registrant will receive a patch to commemorate the race. Half the proceeds of the race will go to help improve enclosures and provide daily needs and veterinary care for the wolves and wolf-dogs of the sanctuary. Wolf Sanctuary of PA has provided a home for displaced wolves and wolf-dogs since 1980 and they currently have over 50 residents in their care.

Tractor Day

August 15th, 2020 No comments

Saturday, August 15 from 10am-3pm
About: Flinchbaugh’s Tractor Day is for everyone who wants to learn, experience and appreciate the great machinery that works our fields and orchards year after year.  Our sunflower fields will be in bloom too, so enjoy a wagon ride around the farm to enjoy. We hope you can join us!
Why: The Flinchbaugh Family has raised 4 generations of kids on the farm.  We recognize the excitement and the interest little ones have when our tractors, trucks and equipment drive through the farm or they see them in the surrounding fields.
We want to share this equipment with you and encourage you to learn and feel apart of the farm atmosphere – experiencing the equipment that helps us grow the foods they eat at the dinner table.  In addition, we know there are many “big kids” out there who ponder and ask the question, “what is that thing?” when they too see tractors hard at work in the field.
What to expect:
The farm will have over 30 of its tractors, trucks and implements (of all different colors) on site for the community to experience.  Meet the equipment, from antiques to “newbies,” as each piece of machinery will be on display with a describing Name Tag to help attendees learn just what they do!
Kid Tractor Pull Contest will be operational for kids to test their strength too!  Winners will be awarded in 3 age brackets – 3-5 year, 6-9 year, and 10-15 year.  Practice between 10a-11a.  Competition at 11a-1p, with fun trials following the competition.  Our craft tables will be open for making a fun memento of the day and wagon rides for all from 11am-2pm (subject to change).
FAQ
How much does it cost?
Free admission. We welcome everyone to come and enjoy.  This is farmer Ritchie, Mike, Andrew, Rick, Eugene, Brad and Adam’s favorite event of the year!  They love sharing their equipment.
What should I wear?
Tractor Day is an outdoor event at a working farm, so dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes, great for climbing!
Will there be food available to purchase?
Yes!  G’s Food Truck will be on site for chicken, fries, crab cakes and more!
How is Flinchbaugh’s Orchard handling public safety?
While we are not requiring masks, we are asking guests to wear them if they are comfortable doing so. Please manage a 6’ distance from other folks not in your party at all times, including while waiting in line to sit on equipment. In addition, hand washing stations are set up for kids and adults throughout the farm. We will be sanitizing high touch areas – like hand rails, trike handle bars and bathrooms every hour.
