Vital Step to a Radiant Faith-Love Our Enemies

February 21st, 2023 No comments

JOHN SHIRK – In the Year to Shine, today’s Vital Step to a Radiant Faith is loving our enemies.

This is a call to extraordinary love. Jesus said that even sinners will do good to those who are good to them. But to do good for those who hate us? That takes love from above. Jesus did that for us when He died on the cross.

Jesus said in Luke 6:35, “Love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting anything back. Then your reward will be great and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.”

Another way we can love our enemies is to bless them and pray for them. That is what Jesus told us to do in Luke 6:28.

The way of the world is to fight against our enemies or avoid them altogether. But the way of Jesus is to love our enemies in the hope that they might be won over as friends of God.

Loving our Enemies is a vital step to a radiant faith that makes a difference in our world.

Key Element for Thriving Relationships-Loving Our Enemies

August 30th, 2022 No comments

JOHN SHIRK – Today’s Key Element for Thriving Relationships is Loving our Enemies.

This is what Jesus taught. This is also how He lived.

As the crowd was shouting “Crucify Him!”, Jesus was loving the world, and praying, “Father, forgive them for they do not know what they are doing.”

In Matthew 5:44, Jesus said, “I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven.”

Loving our enemies is a supernatural love that reflects the way of Jesus to an unbelieving world. It’s the kind of love that has the power to turn enemies into friends.

Loving our Enemies is a key element for thriving relationships that honor God.

Eye On Integrity-Loving Enemies

October 22nd, 2018 No comments

JOHN SHIRK – Today’s Eye on Integrity is based on Matthew 5, verses 43 to 45a.

Jesus said, “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven.”

The way of the world is to love those who love us, but Jesus calls us to extraordinary love-the kind of love that He demonstrated on the cross for us. Romans 5:8 says that “God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

We will need the influence of Jesus to love our enemies. This is not something we can do on our own strength.

Walking with love for our enemies is a virtue to embrace for our lives in the Year of Integrity.
