How Does It Work?
Sign up at – https://connectuschurch.org/backpack
There you will let us know how many children will receive a free backpack. Come to the church lobby on August 20 to pick up your free backpack filled with school supplies.

Everyone is invited to attend ConnectUs Church’s Service at 10am on Sunday Aug 20, 2023. ConnectUs Church meets in Reel Cinemas (Wegmans’ Shopping Center).

Community Connections for Children 35th Anniversary Family Fun Fest

Join us at Wellspan Park, Home of the York Revolution, 5 Brooks Robinson Way, York PA for a FREE Family Fun Fest on Saturday, August 19th, 2023, 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The first 200 children will get a backpack and school supplies as well as a children’s book. Community Partners will be there to share about their services and the playground, carousel, and bounce house will be available for lots of active play. Food and drink can be purchased at the stadium concession stands. Come join the fun and make memories with your child before they head back to school! For more info check out: www.cccforpa.org

Introducing

WJTL’s Give Back To School Contest

Listen August 9th-12th for the cue to call.
If you are the correct caller,
you will win a backpack AND a WJTL water bottle.

You will also be entered to win a daily grand prize-
$150 to help with your back-to-school shopping
AND $150 to donate to the school of your choice,
You can donate it to the marching band,
buy lunch for the teachers, use it towards for a school trip
or however you choose to give back to their school.
All thanks to a generous donor!

Daily grand prize winners will be announced
Tuesday through Friday, August 10th-13th on The Morning Show.

WJTL’s Taking You To School Contest

We know it has been a challenging year for parents. So whether your kids are heading back to a school building, educating at home, or a combination of the two, we want to encourage and support you.

Introducing WJTL’s Taking You To School Contest!

Between August 3rd and 7th, you will have the chance to call in 4 times each day to answer a back to school trivia question. Just for being the correct caller you will win a generous supply of school supplies. (Colors will vary.)

If you correctly answer the question, you will also win a backpack to carry your supplies. (Color will vary.)

And for even more fun, each correct caller will be entered into a daily grand prize drawing to win Apple AirPods!

Be ready this week to call in when you hear the Taking You To School Contest Sounder. The number to call is 717-392-3690. Daily Grand Prize Winners will be announced on The Morning Show Tuesday through Friday and just before KCB on Saturday.

Five Fun Free Family Things To Do This Weekend – August 14-16

5. 4th Annual Back To School Fun Day at Winterstown United Methodist Church near Felton (South of York) tomorrow (Saturday, August 15) from 10am-1pm.  Inflatable rides, games, wagon rides, face painting and food. Backpacks and school supplies will be given away while they last to all elementary and preschool children. The York Revolution mascot “Downtown” will be on hand. Pre-registration is encouraged but not necessary. More Info: www.winterstownumc.org

4. Back-to-school FREE All-You-Can-Shop event at Pleasureville United Methodist Church, North Sherman St. in York, tomorrow (Saturday, August 15) 9am–2pm. This annual back-to-school event offers a range of men, women’s, baby, youth, children’s clothing and accessories for FREE.  Bring your bags and fill them!  Leave your wallets at home. More Info: Pleasurevilleumc.org

3. Free Outdoor Worship Night at Marietta Community Chapel 1125 River Road, Sunday (August 16) at 6pm. featuring Vibrations Dance Ministry, a lyrical dance group for girls K-12, Matt Wheeler music, ice cream, and worship. Bring a lawn chair or blanket.  More Info: (717)426-4584

2. Landis Valley Village & Farm Museum Henry K Landis Birthday Party. Sunday (Aug. 16) from Noon-4pm. Immerse yourself in the year 1865 and join in the celebration of the museum founder’s birth! Roam the grounds and interact with re-enactors, learn to dance a reel, take in a lecture about what was happening in the world in 1865, take a wagon ride, play some games, learn about historic food, and enjoy a piece of birthday cake in Henry K. 1. Palmyra Public Library and Flightpath Sports Park will host an end of the summer party tomorrow (Saturday, August 15) from 9am-1pm at Palmyra Public Library and throughout Flightpath Sports. This is a wrap up celebration of the Summer Reading Program, “Every Hero has a Story”. Activities will include a Bounce House,superhero themed photo booth, crafts, games, face painting, and more. KCB broadcasting live 9am-noon.  The event is free, however there will be a fee for some of the activities. Dress up as your favorite superhero. There will be a superhero parade at noon. Backpack To School Contest

Back To School Time is right around the corner!  Over the next few weeks, families all over the listening area will be heading out on Back To School shopping trips.  We encourage you to nominate a family that you know who could use some help with those expenses this year.  It’s WJTL’s “Backpack To School” contest, underwritten by 1-800-GOT-JUNK!  They offer full-service junk removal for your home or business.

HOW TO ENTER:

Email SchoolContest@WJTL.com and tell us your name and address.  Also include the name, kids’ ages or grades, city and phone number or email address of the family you would like to nominate for our contest.  Entries must be received by Noon on Wednesday, August 28, 2013.

We’ll choose winners randomly and announce them Fridays on the Get Up & Go Show throughout the month of August.  (Winners will be contacted before their name is mentioned on the radio.)  Each winner will receive a backpack with some school supplies and a $200 Visa giftcard to help with Back To School expenses.
