Conversation E-town: Olivia Morrison on the Charitable Food System

March 4th, 2024 No comments

Elizabethtown College student Olivia Morrison will expand on a summer research project she conducted by detailing the history of the charitable system in the United States and Elizabethtown. In addition to discussing the history of the charitable food system, she will also explain how the public can be more conscientious donors and volunteers. This lecture is part of a month-long food drive to collect contributions for the Community Cupboard, a local food pantry in Elizabethtown and will be held at the H.U. Coble House, 33 E. High St. Elizabethtown, Pa. Both free and metered parking are located behind the building, with additional municipal parking located below Mechanics Alley.

The lecture is offered free to the public as part of Winters Heritage House Museum’s Conversation E-town series. We do ask attendees, if able, to bring a non-perishable item for the Community Cupboard. RSVPs are requested and appreciated. To do so, please call the museum 717 367-4672 or e-mail winters-hh@elizabethtownhistory.org.

Olivia Morrison is a Junior Sociology Major at Elizabethtown College and the Secretary of the Elizabethtown College Chapter of Food Recovery Network (FRN). Olivia has spoken at the Mid-Atlantic Undergraduate Research Symposium, the Landmark Symposium, and Scholarship and Creative Arts Day at Elizabethtown College.
