The Non-Stop Worship Block

NIK – It’s not new that our faith fights against flesh.  Some days, it seems, the war wages more than others.

I was thinking on the statement:  My faith.  Isn’t it interesting “my faith” starts with the very thing we are to lay down.  It’s true that faith is individual for each one of us, and it is a gift to know that my faith doesn’t originate with me, I am equipped by the LORD!

During The Non-Stop Worship Block, we posed a question: who is our LORD?

(I encourage you to visit John Shirk’s blog Q & A Segment exploring the question, “What is the meaning of Yahweh?”)

So, how do I focus more on the “faith” of my faith, instead of focusing on “my” and “self?”  We visited three great places in the Word highlighting the assurance in love and mercy of our LORD.  (Maybe you’ll want to commit one or more of these to memory) challenge yourself to a be equipped with the sword of the LORD, so next time temptation arises to act otherwise, you “can keep the faith”–first!

The Non-Stop Worship Block

NIK – I invite you to join me, Nik at Night M-TH at 10:37, for The NON-STOP WORSHIP BLOCK. It’s an opportunity, weeknights Monday through Thursday, to reset your day.

I am blessed to know lyrics have been poured over by the God pursuing men and women we play here at WJTL so just the right message has the opportunity to soak into our soul.

You’ll hear the Word of God, and a theme supporting surrender–not only of the day, but also a surrender of our hurts and hang-ups over to our Savior!   I invite you to bring your heart to the table and let your mind rest as we settle into some prayers in melody– inspired by and offered back to our God, Most High!

Each night features a three song set where you’ll find a progression: a starting point of our surrender which grows lyrically to a point of praise and thankfulness. We conclude each Worship block with an encouraging word from:

The Monday block featured Mac Powell “By His Wounds” f/ Steven Curtis Chapman and Mark Hall, Matt Maher “Abide With Me” and New Life Worship “Bless The Lord.”  And Billy Graham talked about the disciples, although young, willing of heart to do God’s will.  Our focus was from Micah 6:8.

“Rock and Hard Place” Obedience

NIK – As I played the song,* I was thinking is it “my joy to say ‘Your will Your way.  Always’” to Jesus?  Honestly, joy seems like a strong word next to “rock and hard place” obedience.  Then I remembered a word Jesus said to his three closest friends, followed by a prayer Jesus said to His father (a question or maybe a different way), followed by full and vital surrender, agreement with His father.  This is true worship that has forever changed life; changed my life.

Matt 26:37-42 says it best.  I marked it in my Bible for you, and it’s posted on facebook.

Mud Pies in Green Pastures

NIK – Was I six or seven years old making mud pies that night? (I was ready to start a catering business. So many mud pies, so little time.) While I played, there was one rule: “Be in before dark.” In a muddy and green pasture in rural Montana, there was only one thing to determine “that” time; no interference, no street lights, no car lights, simply the setting sun. That night, I came to realize darkness creeps up, stealing a little light at first, then a little more, until suddenly darkness shadows the whole landscape.
Tonight’s non-stop worship block featured songs that spoke of the LIGHT OF GOD in our lives with words like: “Light that pierced the dark,” “light broke in coming in like a song…like a Son.” That light is a gift of God and a warm assurance of His presence in our life. * If your relationship with God is currently in a holding pattern or maybe you’ve even said, I pray sometimes, or I’ll get my life together before things get bad. Know this: darkness sets in subtly, a little at a time, and it’s scary to find yourself in the middle a dark field, confused and running for home. Protect the light within you. It’s an indwelling miracle from our beautiful and gracious Savior who longs to bathe His children in the light of His mercy and grace.

Are you comfortable with it?

NIK -I was telling my daughter about a lightning strike that once hit a transformer near our home. Non-Stop Worship Block Nightly with Nik

NIK – Visit WJTLs Facebook page to see a new video posted of His Little Feet Children’s Choir; the choir is featured in the new song from Audio Adrenaline “Sound of the Saints.”  The Non-Stop Worship Block:  Each evening we feature a three song set, a theme that progresses from song one thru song three and closes with an inspiring audio quote from Billy Graham.  We incorporate “Reset” verses in between the songs that draw us further into the theme of the evening.  I’d love you to join me for a time to reset perspectives and pursue God in a greater way.  You can always catch up on the theme at WJTL’s Facebook page or spend time looking over the incorporated Bible verses.  The Non-Stop Worship Block with Nik at Night is featured every Monday through Thursday at 10:37.

Dot-to-Dot Personal Faith Action Plan

NIK – For THE Dot-to-DOT GREAT REVEAL, we no longer needed to be told to take up the crayon and physically draw short lines–number to number. At some point in development, there was a change.  Now, we were mentally able to connect the dots that created the picture, especially, if there were context clues. Our very bright mind drew around the picture for us, and reality was–we needed no numbers at all to make something magnificent appear upon the page.

If only faith was that linear (where we know for certain two comes after one and so on or in some cases in life, where is that big INKY dot-to-dot STAR that tells us “Start Here”).  That STAR does represent a beginning or a mark identifying “You Are Here.”  But reality is, a journey proceeds the starred starting point–just as it did that famous first “Christmas” with those familiar Kings we sang about who traveled so far.
I look back in my faith journey thinking If only she “got” the picture.

This younger version of myself, didn’t have the capacity or development that comes from “journey-ing.” Faith is not a simple walk in the park because the one we were made in the image of—Almighty God—is infinitely greater than that default trinity I love so much: “me, myself and I.”

Following the proverbial dot-to-dot could be a sign we’re growing in our faith. Growing doesn’t make us juvenile; rather it’s a working out of personal salvation, redemption, and unfathomable grace.  This is our journey.  In contrast, if we want to remain where we can quickly call out the picture on the page (without first putting in the more meticulous work line by line) it may mean it is time to stoke the fire of our faith journey–find a proverbial camel and get after the starting star.

A MENTAL EXERCISE

It’s in the making.  This year, I’m proposing thoughtful time for a dot-to-dot.

[Twelve months act as dots; for example, January is one, February is two and on to December which is twelve.] Compare you, my camel rider, last year to this one (i.e.where was I after Christmas 2014. Recall things like family, health, habits, relationships, money, personal time in God’s word etc.) and most importantly pray. Prayerfully, ask God to reveal the picture in the making that He sees complete. God has a plan for you this year, as He does for me. I think it’s a valid goal to spend less time putting God in the picture and more time understanding His powerful orchestration and plan. He is the publisher of this dot-to-dot we call history and future and life. He’s overseer of these lines drawn, and builder of our very bright mind created to glorify Him. Let’s begin to draw one line at a time! Journey month by month with awareness.  Let’s read God’s word, pray alone, pray together, be accountable, and, my friends, let’s be His disciples!  We, too, will find Him!

O Come, O Come, Emmanuel

Tonight, I’m reminded that “fear” could be translated as “losing ground,” “losing control,” “losing perspective” or even “losing the plumb line” in our goal and purpose of life. This Christmas season, know He is calling all us weary ones unto Himself. (Even now I hear “Come Let us Adore Him.”)
This Christmas, lets do it!  Let’s adore Him in the biggest way; the way of letting go of “fear” so that we may find Him. I believe we’ll not only find Him, we will find Him faithful.
Blessings over your Christmastime.
Praying in this season you pursue everything in your heart, that leads to a fearless “all-in” to Jesus Christ our celebrated Savior.
