Key Element for Thriving Relationships-Support Vibrant Ministry

September 21st, 2022 No comments

JOHN SHIRK – Today’s Key Element for Thriving Relationships is Supporting Vibrant Ministry.

Jesus had a support system during His earthly ministry. It’s found in Luke chapter 8 as Jesus traveled about from one town and village to another, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of God.

The Twelve were with him, and also some women, who were helping to support them out of their own means. Mark 15:41 adds that these women followed Jesus and cared for the needs of Jesus.

There are various ways to support churches and ministries who spread the Gospel with integrity and enthusiasm: Prayer, Words of Encouragement, Financial Assistance, Volunteering and Hospitality.

In Philippians 4:16, the Apostle Paul told the church, “You sent me aid more than once when I was in need….I have received full payment and have more than enough. I am amply supplied.” This is how ministries can be refreshed by the support of God’s people.

Supporting Vibrant Ministry is a key element for thriving relationships that honor God.

Sew Masks for Mennonite Disaster Service
Mennonite Disaster Service (MDS) is seeking to have 100,000 masks made per week for the next 8 weeks to meet the requests of local hospitals and other organizations. All masks are donated.

The Amish and Old Order Mennonite communities have partnered and are preparing kits. Each kit contains pre-cut material, elastic for ear pieces, and directions to make 50 masks. You provide the thread and your own sewing machine at home.

Please call Bill and Betsy Longenecker (717-627-6868 or 717-799-3647) to request a kit or two. They will drop off on your porch. Call again when finished and they’ll pick up and take to the MDS command center in Bird-In-Hand where they will be distributed to local hospitals and other organizations. Social distancing will happen as we ring the doorbell and leave the kits. There is no pressure, you can work at your own pace.

They will begin receiving volunteers as soon as Friday (Nov2). Daryl will be taking a team down Saturday night and you could possibly travel with his team.  If you are available and want to help our neighbors in NJ who have been devastated by this storm, please go the Christ in Action website and fill out a volunteer form now.  If you want to go with Daryl Saturday please email him – Daryl at Christ in Action dot com and of course make that look like a regular email address.   Listen to Daryl’s interview at our WJTL Casts page.

3 things you can do for Christ in Action:

1) Volunteer to go to Southern NJ

2) Make a donation at the website to help underwrite their service there.

3) Pray for the Christ in Action team as they serve those in Southern NJ who have lost everything.
