Five Fun Free Family Things To Do This Weekend – June 10-12, 2016

5 Camp Swatara Family Camp Free Preview, tomorrow (Saturday, June 11) from 9-noon.  Check out the hiking, swimming, and other fun outdoor activities at Camp Swatara in Bethel during their Family Camp preview weekend!  Kids Cookie Break will be on hand with a Pop Up Part, the cookie car and will be Broadcasting Live. 4 Living Hope Angels Concert, Sunday (June 12) at 6:30pm  at Manheim BIC. Living Hope Children’s Homes “Angels” will entertain audiences with their message of hope. Their program consists of traditional Chinese dance, singing, and personal testimonies.

3 Eicher Arts Center Jigger Day and Family Community Day at Tom Grater Park in Ephrata, Sunday, (June 12) from 3-8pm Entertainment, food and plenty of activities. Wildlife Guy Jack Hubley, Juggling team The DKers, One Man Band Nick DiSanto, face painting, balloon sculpting and jigger style Ice Cream Sundaes! 1 The WJTL Talent Challenge, (Sunday, June 12) beginning at 3pm at The Junction Center in Manheim.  Come and vote for your favorite performer!  Freedom Lights – last year’s Talent Challenge Winner, will also perform.

2015 Talent Challenge Winners

Thanks to everybody who came out to the Talent Challenge at the 2015 Sertoma Chicken BBQ! Congratulations to the top 3 vote recipients at the Weavers Garage Stage!

Third Place: Olivia, Grace, & Abby, three sisters from East Earl who performed their own version of “Happy.”

Second Place: Devon Eshleman, a student at Ephrata Intermediate School who played an electric guitar medley.

First Place: Folk duo Freedom Lights, who performed their original song “Grace & Mercy.”

2015 Talent Challenge Contestants

2015 Talent Challenge

It’s time for the 2015 WJTL Talent Challenge and we’re on the lookout for talented WJTL listeners–we know you’re out there!  We want to see and hear your talents.  We encourage musicians to enter, but the WJTL Talent Challenge is wide open to any skill that has the potential to impress, entertain or amuse our crowd at Sertoma!  Individual performers and groups may enter.

Ten contestants will be chosen to perform their talent on the Weaver’s Garage Stage at the 60th annual Sertoma Chicken BBQ in Long’s Park in Lancaster on Saturday, May 16th (in the afternoon).  Then, the audience gets to vote on their favorite performer–and we’ll award prizes to the Top 3!  $500 for 1st place, $250 for 2nd place and $100 for 3rd place.

HOW TO ENTER:

Email your .mp3,  movie file or You Tube link to talent@wjtl.com or mail your CD or DVD to WJTL, 1875 Junction Road, Manheim, PA 17545.  (Drop-offs must be during office hours: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. weekedays.) Be sure to tell us a little about yourself and your talent when you enter and include your contact information in your entry. Contest entry material (including CDs, DVDs, photos, etc.) will not be returned.  There are no age restrictions, but kids under 18 must have their parents’ permission before entering.

The deadline to enter is midnight on Friday, May 01, 2015.  Eddie will be announcing the winners on Thursday, May 07 at 3:05pm during the Drive Home. (Contestants will also be contacted directly by WJTL.)

2014 Talent Challenge Winners

We had a blast at the 61st Sertoma Chicken BBQ!  The weather was beautiful, the chicken was delicious and the entertainment on the Weaver’s Garage Stage was unbeatable!  (Click here to see our photos from the day.)
