Looking Forward to 27 Hours of Compassion March 21 and 22

March 20th, 2017 No comments

At WJTL we enthusiastically support the mission of Compassion International to release children from poverty in Jesus name.  Our own staff and thousands of area listeners have experienced first-hand the impact of Compassion International through child sponsorship even visiting various projects all over the world.

In February, Fred and Lisa joined a sponsor trip and visited our most recently sponsored project GU501 in Guatemala plus spent time with their own sponsored children.     On March 21 and 22 they’ll share more about their trip, plus other local sponsors  and staff will be sharing their stories  and we’ll be giving opportunities for you to sponsor children from Guatemala, Central America and in various parts of the world.

Tune in on on March 21 and 22 for our 27 Hours of Compassion from 6am to 8pm Tuesday and 6am to 7pm Wednesday.    Visit compassion.com/wjtl to see photos of children awaiting sponsorship and prayerfully consider sponsoring a child.  We’ll be highlighting various profiles from this page during our on air event.

You can also check out the fantastic photos from Fred and Lisa’s recent trip to Guatemala at our Flickr page.

Ways to Respond to Needs in Haiti

October 5th, 2016 No comments

Areas of Haiti, especially in the Southwest peninsula, were severely devastated by Hurricane Matthew.  Please prayerfully investigate what is being done by various ministries and consider how you can help.

Haiti Bible Mission:  Located in Jeremie Haiti, which was an area devastated due to the hurricane

Life Connection Mission : During this hurricane, Montrouis, Haiti is experiencing damages to property as a result of heavy winds and flooding.

Olive Tree Projects/Maison de Naissance:   Maision de Naissance, a birthing care center in Les Cayes has become an emergency shelter for several of their neighbours and expect they will have to continue housing them for a couple weeks. Maison de Naissance also has some structural damage that will eventually need to be repaired.  They are in a need of a wide spectrum of items from clothing, to food, to medications, to equipment like shovels.  Money that comes in to Olive Tree Projects for “Matthew Relief” will be used to purchase as many things on their needs list as we can, and sent via private plan from Port au Prince. For the next week they will collect funds to provide them with supplies and future financial support to Maison de Naissance can be given directly to www.globalbirthinghomefoundation.org

Cross International

Food for the Poor

Mennonite Central Committee

A Few Helpful Kids Cookie Break Fest Details

August 25th, 2016 2 comments

We are thankful to be able to offer our 5th Annual Kids Cookie Break Fest coming up this Saturday.   We hope that all who attend are encouraged, have fun with your family and friends and are inspired to live like Jesus!

All tickets have been taken for the 10:00 am – 2:00 pm session.  There is a duplicate session from 3:00 pm – 7:00 with some tickets still available until 4:00 on Thursday.   Everyone attending must have their pre-reserved tickets.

You should have reserved one ticket per person attending.  Your tickets indicate the time of the program you reserved your tickets for and also where to park.  If your ticket says JC, then you must park at the Junction Center and if it says Roots then you must park at Roots and walk the short path through the cornfield over to the Junction Center.  Signs will be posted.   Handicap parking needs will be met at the Junction Center.     We are thankful to have been able to open up  tickets to more people this year;  thanks to Root’s providing this added parking option.

Be sure to keep your meal tickets (marked Sand. or Wrap) to hand in at the Chick-fil-A booth for your meal.   We plan to serve meals between 11:30 – 1:00 (10am program)   and  5:00 – 6:30 (3pm program).

Please have the entry forms that are attached to your tickets filled out in advance.  This allows for a quicker entry.  Fill out one form per person.   You will receive an artist schedule and map when you hand in your ticket.

New for this year, there is an ATM on site and it is located just inside the breezeway entrance to the garage.   We do have food and beverage vendors, artist merchandise and the police dunk tank where cash would be handy.   All Chick-fil-A meals must have been pre-reserved.  No Chick-fil-A will be for sale on site.

Northwest EMS will provide first aid service at their vehicle.   We do recommend that you also carry some bandaids, wear sunscreen and that you and your children drink plenty of water.

Thanks to our many volunteers serving to help make this free event possible and also to our Event Sponsors: Turkey Hill Dairy, FunCo, Thrivent Financial and Rockvale Outlets Lancaster.  Thanks also to all of the interactive sponsors.  Please encourage them and thank them for their participation!

If you or someone in your family (age 14+) would like to volunteer, please email stacey@wjtl.com or stop by the Volunteer booth at the fest to find out if/where help is still needed!

We look forward to a great day!

The Impact of Rado: Far East Broadcasting Company

April 19th, 2016 No comments

Has radio impacted your life?  It has significantly impacted mine, and that is why I am thrilled that WJTL is partnering with the Far East Broadcasting Company (FEBC) for the Give-A-Radio Project.

FEBC has the motto “Christ to the World By Radio” and is reaching into 40 countries with 770 hours of programming in 100 languages each day broadcasting the life-changing Word of God.  They reach into areas where it’s difficult for missionaries to go.

Our goal is to provide 400 radios, which will help FEBC go to the hardest-to-reach places.  $30 provides one radio, and every radio you give has the potential to reach 25 people with the Gospel.  Right now, a generous donor is even matching every donation so if we reach our goal that would be 800 radios provided!

I invite you to join our Give-A-Radio Project with Far East Broadcasting Company.   To join our Give-A-Radio Project call 877-532-2998 or give online at GiveARadio.org

KCB Fest and Our Community

August 25th, 2015 No comments

STACEY GAGNE – As we’re getting ready for Kids Cookie Break Fest here at The Junction Center this weekend, I am once again reminded what a great and involved community we have here.

We have super talented artists and educators who love to tell kids and families about Jesus and have fun while doing it!

Some phenomenal sponsors from local business and non-profit organizations are investing their finances, products and time to make this event happen while also being involved year round here at WJTL and in the community.  (special thanks to Funco Entertainment, Turkey Hill Dairy, Thrivent Financial, SVPS, J. Garber Enterprises, Chick-fil-A Lancaster, Herr’s Snacks, Oregon Dairy, Dutch Valley Food Distributors and Alan Manufacturing)

Our  amazing volunteers come out and help us time and time again … some of whom have been a part of the team for decades!

We are also certain that there are listeners who are praying, giving and enthusiastically encouraging us as all the time as we broadcast, go live into the community and host events here at The Junction Center.

Wow and Thank You.

Christ. Community Music.
