Today’s Opportunity to Grow Toward Christ-Childlike Faith

November 30th, 2011 No comments

JOHN SHIRK – With a childlike faith, we live with the wonder and awe of what Christ has done for us. We rely completely on His grace. We trust hopefully in His promises. What He tells us, we will believe. Where we lack understanding, we ask questions with the sincere desire to learn what Jesus wants to teach us.

Oftentimes, adults think of ways they can be an example for children, but when it comes to faith, Jesus tells the adults to learn from the example of children.

In Matthew 18:2, Jesus called a little child and had him stand among them. Then, He said, “I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.”

A Childlike faith is a humble character quality that enables us to represent Jesus in the world today.

WJTL HAS A NEW LOGO!

November 29th, 2011 30 comments

Tim Landis – For the past twenty years or so the round red, white and blue logo of WJTL was an instantly recognizable symbol throughout central Pennsylvania . As a staff though we felt that it was time to freshen up the old logo. The basic design for the new logo has both 2D and 3D versions. The primary color is green although you will occasionally see the logo presented in other colors including orange. Obviously this means that your old bumper sticker is now either a collector’s item or obsolete depending on your view. You can pick up a new bumper sticker at any one of our live remotes or special events. We will also be sending out the new stickers in our receipt letters and other correspondence. Do you like the new logo? Please use the comment section below to let us know.

Real News of Inspiration

Herb Suereth —

Here’s this weeks’ Real News of Inspiration

From Lancaster Online’s Joan Kern

Can you imagine making a large financial commitment in these times of economic distress?  Freedom Life Christian Center in Christiana, PA can and did!  The church is celebrating their 40th year as a congregation and to celebrate they are starting a campaign entitled “Decade of Destiny.”  The “Decade of Destiny” is a commitment the church is making to plant 100 churches in 10 years.  Pastor Sam Mastellar commented on the commitment, “The previous generation sacrificed for what we have.  Let’s
pay it forward. Let’s not just sit back and enjoy it.”  For more info on Freedom Life Christian Center, check out www.FreedomLife.tv.

FIVE IRON FRENZY IS BACK!

November 27th, 2011 2 comments

Herb Suereth —

That’s right!  The lovable, silly and yet somehow sobering-at-times ska band, Five Iron Frenzy is reuniting!  There were rumblings of big news leading up to this announcement on Tuesday, November 22 including internet puzzles the band had placed all over the internet.  The announcement was posted on their website along with a new single entitled “It Was a Dark and Stormy Night” and a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds to record a new album.  The initial goal was to raise $30,000 in 8 weeks.  Fans helped reach that goal in less than 55 minutes!  The band plans to record a new album and release it in early 2013 along with touring this coming year including their first announced show at Soulfest 2012.  For more info check out www.FiveIronFrenzy.com.
