PAB Excellence In Broadcasting Award 2014

Congratulations to WJTL, Kids Cookie Break, and host Lisa Landis – winner of The Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters Excellence in Broadcasting Radio Judges Merit Award for The Kids Cookie Break Fest 2013. On Monday (May 5) Fred, Lisa and Kristi attended the annual gathering of Pennsylvania Broadcasters and received the award during a special ceremony at the Hotel Hershey.

4) Ready, Set, Explore: A Backyard Adventure with Curious George, tomorrow (Saturday, May 3) 9am-11am at Lancaster County Environmental Center. Designed for ages 3-8, kids will meet Curious George and discover science by exploring animal habitats & tracks, observing plants & insects, learning about weather & wind, and creating  tools to explore with at home.  All family members welcome.

We have a couple of events this weekend in The Junction Center Tent–presented by Turkey Hill Dairy’s All-Natural Ice Cream.

On Saturday at 7:00 p.m., it’s a multi-talented entertainer: Taylor Mason! He’s a comedian, ventriloquist and musician. All ages will enjoy his funny, unique style and good humor.

On Sunday at 7:00 p.m., don’t miss Steve Taylor & The Perfect Foil live in concert with Peter Furler Band!

3) PUREhope Coffeehouse tomorrow (Saturday, April 26) 6:30 -10pm at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.  A benefit coffeehouse for Abolition International and Blood:Water Mission to support the organizations. Live entertainment provided throughout the evening by Jonathan Frazier, the Elizabethtown College Clarinet Ensemble, Seasons, and friends.

2) Miles For Martins Cross Country 5K Miles Cross Country Run/Walk that benefits the Martin Family Education Trust. It offers hope to the four children survived by Wes and Liz Martin by raising funds in an effort to provide a fundamental education for the children to grow and succeed in life. Marty Shaughnessy & The Stars Are Spies Live From The Junction Center

Marty Shaughnessy & The Stars Are Spies are former members of local bands The Rainchildren and The Innocence Mission. They’ll be “Live From The Junction Center” this Friday evening at 8:00 to play songs – old and new – in front of a live studio audience.  We’ll air it live on WJTL, but would like to give you a chance to be here for this exclusive event!

Those in attendance will enjoy local treats, too!  We’ll serve Turkey Hill Dairy’s All-Natural Ice Cream and coffee courtesy of The Good Java Company!

Zip Line Canopy Tour Preview for Youth Workers

If you’re a youth worker (pastor, staffer, volunteer), we have a special contest this week just for you!  Listen all day long Monday – Friday (April 21-25th) for your chance to attend a special Zip Line Canopy Tour Preview–just for youth workers–at Refreshing Mountain Retreat & Adventure Center in Northern Lancaster County.  The canopy tour features 7 zip lines spanning over 3,500 feet, along with 3 sky bridges.  The special preview event for youth workers is happening on Thursday, May 1st from 1-3 p.m.
