Episode 11 features special guest, Kirby Kaple of Housefires! I’m truly thrilled to bring you our conversation. Housefires is releasing brand new singles these days, with a very special new studio version of “I’ll Give Thanks”. Kirby co-wrote and sung it while on a 7-year infertility journey, and now is talking about it from the other side. IVF is part of her story, so listen for details on her process. There are also keys here for worship leaders, leading through their own very difficult seasons. And, as Kirby and I are both quarantined at home for this interview, spoiler alert, our kids and dogs adorably interrupt!
Happy Sunday! Even though we’re not gathering to celebrate, today is a special occasion. It’s Palm Sunday! Listen in and sing along with me: songs of hosanna and hallelujah to the King!
Today is the 3rd Sunday in a row that my family watched our church service from home. These weeks have involved new adjustments along with a lot to process. You can probably relate! Songs are helping. I heard from lots of friends about what they’re singing these days during this week’s #worshipleaderwednesday conversation on social media. And I caught up with worship leader, Jared Anderson, to find out how he and his large family are impacted by the Coronavirus. They’re on official lockdown in Colorado. I asked him about his song picks for this season, too. He’s been going LIVE on social media each evening for Nights of Song (6-7 Eastern), sometimes with a friend or family members. I loved that Jared shared his heart and mind, and that he’s sharing the gift of music as an offering to help others while also steadying his family. I also 100% love that Jared is fun to talk with and lives in a colorful home!
Episode 7 also features Neal Harmon, CEO of VidAngel: a filtering service with access to familiar titles and original content, allowing you to skip the stuff you’d otherwise fast-forward and mute. That’s good news if you need a laugh from Dry Bar Comedy or are looking for something spiritual for the family like The Chosen. You may have heard about this first-ever multiple-episode tv series based on the life of Jesus and the impact he had on those closest to him. My husband and I recently binged it. So, as a fan, I was eager to geek about about with Neal. Listen to the podcast to find out when season 2 is coming out – and how it’s being affected by the Coronavirus. Plus, Neal shares his favorite character and scene, and some fun stories behind-the-scenes.
Hi! What a week…I hope you’re doing well. It’s definitely a lot to process, with new things to balance in daily life. I’ve found songs are a big help in steadying my heart on God. Some lyrics are perfect reminders that He is faithful, victorious and dependable. I thought songs for this season were in order for today’s playlist. That goes for our current circumstances, and also the recent end of winter and start of spring! The playlist is below. I pray it encourages you.
Hello! I hope you and your family are doing well. There’s a lot going on, and it can be very easy to feel overwhelmed. So, I have a special theme for this morning: songs of wholehearted trust and unshakeable peace. The lineup includes songs based on popular Bible verses like Psalm 23, Psalm 91, Jeremiah 29:11, Proverbs 3:5-6 and Lamentations 3:22-23. We’ll focus on His goodness in keeping His promises—and we’ll remember: He is still in control.
Good morning! Today’s playlist includes brand new songs from Passion, Cory Asbury, Paul Baloche, Life Center Worship and more. Plus, mini themes including revival. The lineup is below!
Episode 6 features special guest Tiffany Hammer of Elevation Worship. I caught up with her over FaceTime while she was at The Batch Maker, her go-to coffee shop in Charlotte, NC. Hear what she orders. She told me highlights of her weekend, including Valentine’s Day and Elevation Church‘s 14th birthday. Plus, we talk about her musical family with PA roots, how she got involved at Elevation Church, the writing process of the song “Never Lost”, what songs she and her congregation are into lately, her role in the process of launching Elevation Rhythm and what she’d splurge on if someone gave her some spending money!
Today I have clips of the latest episode of the Praise & Worship Podcast, featuring Tiffany Hammer of Elevation Worship! We’ll hear the songs she and her church are singing lately.
Plus, new releases from Shane & Shane, Mack Brock, Covenant Worship and Paul Baloche. (He wrote this one with his wife, Rita!)
I also have the version of “Way Maker” in the lineup that got the most votes on social media! Thanks to those who helped me pick it.
One of the highlights in yesterday’s Praise & Worship Playlist was a themed grouping of songs, encouraging us to behold God with wonder. I’ve collected that lineup in a Spotify Playlist for you! It includes brand new releases from Matt Redman, Paul Baloche, Belonging Co., Meredith Andrews and more — plus, classics like “Indescribable”, “God of Wonders”, and “Hallelujah Jesus”. I encourage you to take some time to give attention and focus to God in a fresh and intentional way. These songs, led by wonderful leaders, can help!
This morning’s playlist includes lots of new songs from Rend Collective, Chris McClarney, MoveSomebody and a bunch from Matt Redman’s new release “Let There Be Wonder”! Plus, clips from my recent conversation with Cory Asbury. (You can hear the whole thing on the Praise & Worship Podcast, Episode 5)! I do have his very latest, the acoustic rendition of “The Father’s House” in today’s lineup.
Plus, some little song sets with encouraging reminders in the lyrics, focusing on God moving even in the winter season of our lives — and his new mercies and great faithfulness.
Praise & Worship Podcast Episode 4 features special guest, Nathan Horst of Life Center Worship and Attic Studios–both in Harrisburg, PA. (Formerly of SisterBrother, too!) I loved talking studio gear, tempo, worship leading, cappuccino-making and more with Nathan. He’s detail-oriented, great with adjectives, and drops lots of songwriting tips through our conversation. Plus, some motivational ideas to get your kid to practice that instrument you’ve rented! We also follow up on the last episode, and compare notes with David Leonard.
On a personal note, Life Center is my home church. I’ve sung the songs we talk about for years–and love the stories behind the house favorites. Life Center Worship released their official Debut EP last year, and some new songs are on the way soon! Get a little heads up on them in this episode, and stream the Debut EP until then.
